Specialists of the German research center of solar and hydrogen power (Zentrums fur Sonnenenergie-und Wasserstoff-Forschung) achieved efficiency improvement for thin-film solar elements to value of 20,8 %, having established thus a new world record.
Solar batteries on the basis of thin-film photo cells from a copper mix India of gallium диселенида (CIGS) in commercial execution, as a rule, have efficiency no more than 14 %. These researches indicate considerable potential of this CIGS of photo cells. Researchers are sure that in the near future they can achieve still big results of efficiency of solar elements of the second generation. As is planned to begin in the next years a mass production of thin-film modules about efficiency of 16-18 %.
Introduction of new production technologies, highly effective CIGS modules can give a new powerful spur of development of solar power, after all thin-film technologies have lower cost of production concerning photo cells on the basis of crystal silicon.
